I know you may be wondering why you should decide to choose me and my services to carry out the research into your family tree. So why don't I give you a little idea of who I am and how I came to the conclusion that I wanted to become a genealogist...
Welcome to the 'About Me' page:
Here I Am...
So who am I? Why did I become a genealogist?
I could very easily make this section boring, monotonous and cliché by only telling you the very basics of who I am and what I can offer you. However, in order for you to want to use my services, you will want to know the person behind the business. I know that when I'm choosing somebody to help me, I want to know that their heart is in the right place as well as having the skills to qualify them.
I guess you should blame my dad for my choice in career. He wanted to dive into his family tree after growing up in a family that never talked about where they came from. They lost contact with family members when my dad and his siblings were young and he felt a need to find out where he came from in his adulthood. I was 11 when we first asked a genealogist to look into our history and lets just say the family soon expanded! We then decided to look into my mums side as well and connected with family members. From that exact moment is when I caught the genealogy bug, luckily for me I already had a love for history so understanding the past came easily.
Finding out you're descended from a convicted criminal from the 1830's definitely comes as a shock at first but after learning about his journey from an agricultural labourer trying to support his family to being transported to Tasmania, you're suddenly thrown back into the past and gaining an understanding for why he did what he did. His journey is a long one with twists and turns, but that story is for another time on a different page.
After researching both of my parents lineage, at the age of 22 I decided to quit my job in retail and try to turn my hobby into a career by gaining my Diploma in Genealogy. I have since carried out the research into a few different family trees for family and friends. Now I hope to do the same for people I've never met and to bring some happiness and understanding to their lives.

So... why do I do what I do?
Family tree's are very personal to the individual and to their family as they allow for you to be able to dive into the past of your ancestors. I want people to connect with a part of themselves that they never have before and to have an understanding of not only who they are but where they come from. Some of the customers that I have already helped initially may not of thought that the research would affect them but, being able to see names, dates and places with documents adds context which awakens a desire in them to know more. You may be able to find a missing piece of you that you never thought was missing. Seeing people get emotional over ancestors that they have never met instantly bring a smile to my face knowing that I was able to help them find comfort and happiness.
